Research in the News
This fall, I planted the first few trees created in the course of my PhD. One planting was established in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, and one was in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. I trained some NPS personnel in these planting methods, and the park service took some photos… and made a press release! Here are some articles highlighting the work at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore:
An article on MLive.com a Michigan news website.
An article on uplive.com an ABC news affiliate in the upper peninsula.
And a re-stated article on the local Benzie County news website, the Record Patriot.
Other Work
I served as the illustrator on a field guide for turkey tail mushrooms published through Michigan Tech. I worked with a faculty member and a high-level student to provide illustrations for identifying characteristics of the mushrooms. The publication was announced in the university’s daily news briefings, Tech Today.
Highlights for the Public
Every year I draft the short article about Beech Bark Disease for our lab update in the Michigan Forest Health Highlights. This is a free booklet that the DNR releases every year with news and happenings on forest health. I wrote the article in 2020 and 2021, and contributed heavily to the article in 2019, and upcoming 2022.

Funding Acknowledgement
In 2021 I received a fellowship from my University to support my final semester of graduate school. I was given an opportunity to draft a short press release on the MTU blog. They run these announcements every semester for fellowship recipients.
